Welcome to The LIAM Foundation’s New Website!

As Rockford University students, we had the honor of working with Phyllis and the LIAM Foundation in order to develop a new website and write social media content. This opportunity was part of Dr. Kristin Ravel’s community-based learning rhetoric course, which is made possible through the Jane Addams Center for Civic Engagement.

Over the course of the Fall 2021 semester, we worked diligently to help this online resource come to life. We hope the effort we put in will help The LIAM Foundation provide resources to the LGBTQIA+ community of Rockford, IL.

Since it’s now the end of the semester, we wanted to say goodbye to our work on the website by sharing a few thoughts about the course and our process!

Since I’ve never built a website before from scratch, it was a difficult challenge. Having classmates that had helped one another made making the new LIAM Foundation website so much easier.

Alexandra

Being the Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) President here at RU, I found it very important to do what I could in making sure the website had great information and easy access for people around the community to know about this fantastic organization.

Taylor

This project put me so far out of my comfort zone. I was frustrated when I started and now so proud of what I accomplished.

Juliet

I have really enjoyed this class, and it has been a great experience. I’ve never done something like this before, and I’ve learned a lot. I can’t wait to use what I’ve learned in my life going forward!

Faith

I know what I did in this class mattered, which is why I worked very hard regardless of the circumstances. I was challenged beyond belief, and I am grateful for it.

Carlos

I’ve been trying to become more active in the community now that I am able too, and I was really excited to see that this class was an opportunity for me. I’m so grateful that I was able to help the LIAM Foundation and learn so many new things!

Caitlin

We hope that our work will continue to support the LIAM Foundation for years to come, and that our own advocacy and creativity will continue to grow even after this semester.
